Belthorn is a small, historic village perched on the edge of the West Pennine moors, between Blackburn and Haslingden. Once a thriving center for coal mining and weaving, it offers stunning views across the Ribble estuary and to the Lake District. Its rich history and strong sense of community make Belthorn truly special.

Belthorn once had a vibrant village life with pubs, shops, tea rooms, and more — but most of those disappeared over time. However, the village’s spirit endured, and when the opportunity arose to save The Dog Inn in 2015, the community rallied together.

Our Community at The Dog Inn

At The Dog Inn, we believe a pub should be more than just food and drink—it should be a place where people connect, share, and support one another. That’s why we’ve become a hub for activities, services, and future projects that benefit everyone in Belthorn.
