Welcome

“Locally Brewed”

Inspired by tales provided by Belthorn residents, Adam Hughes has created four short stories that focus on one community, the Belthorn community. Locally Brewed was commissioned by Inn Crowd when lockdown meant that live performances were no longer possible in pub venues. Instead, Adam has spent the summer remotely gathering words and gaining an insight into Belthorn life.

November 3rd

The Dog Inn bar, coffee shop and restaurant will close on Wednesday night (4th November) at 10pm until 2 December.

We intend to open the shop between 11 and 4 on Saturday (in order to continue with popular our bread order) and between 2 and 5 on Friday. We have volunteers to cover those times.  We will keep this under review and may be able to open for longer hours or more days if there is enough demand and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in the shop, please contact Kath Sharpe on doginn@hotmail.co.uk

Tuesday 27th October

The board are happy to announce that Nic Machell will be the new manager of The Dog Inn as successor to Craig Steele.

We are also happy that we are not be losing Craig’s experience, knowledge and skills – he has been training Nic up for her new role and will be continuing to mentor and support her.

Craig has been manager on a voluntary basis for three years. He will now be able to spend more of his retirement taking a well earned rest with family and friends and a quiet pint in The Dog Inn. We all owe Craig an immense debt of gratitude for all his work over the last three years but especially in this very difficult 2020.

Nic is keen and enthusiastic with ideas for taking The Dog Inn onto another level as the heart of our Belthorn community. We look forward to working with her.

Monday 12th October

We are pleased to announce that our restaurant is currently undergoing a short period of refurbishment. It shouldn’t impact on the bar area or the current opening hours of the restaurant. After an incredibly successful first year for Jamie & Mark at The Dog Inn, they are keen to put their own ‘stamp’ on the restaurant area. They are funding the re-decoration and adding new fixtures & furnishings, which is a significant investment on their part.

Jamie and Mark are also expanding their ‘empire’ by shortly opening a new restaurant franchise in a new Darwen Town centre venue. They would like to reassure you that their new venture will not detract from The Dog Inn. It remains integral to their future plans. They have recently appointed two new chefs to help them maintain their quality & reputation – they also have an impressive resume: Aiden Parker, previously Head Chef at The Oyster & Otter, and Oliver Daw, who has trained at the Michael Caines Academy (run by the Michelin star chef). They have also recently taken on an apprentice, who is enjoying her time in the kitchen learning the trade. Jamie & Mark will be splitting their time between their two venues and both will still be cheffing.

We congratulate Jamie and Mark on their new venture. Their enthusiasm and determination in these difficult times is admirable.
